13. my reliable mac g5 model A1047 turns on but wont boot to the desk top stage. All i get is a grey screen and the fan whizzing faster and faster. i have tried a safe boot and nothing. This happened after i updated some software from apple (i tunes and an airport update). Not sure what to do next i appeciate that the machine is getting on and if its something i can fix fairly cheaply happy to do so but if it going to be expensive then probably better getting an intel model. thanks.

15. Hi Mac Repair  Edinburgh Team, I have a few queries for you and would be very thankful if you could spare the time to answer them!1. My imac’s dvd drive has failed. It struggles to eject disks and on several occasions has made me resort to trying to free the disks out. How much would a replacement drive cost and how long would this normally take to install? I use my imac for video editing, shooting on HD and using FCP. Having recently purchased some new camera tech (and as result producing a higher quality image), the computer struggles to keep up when editing the footage: it ‘stutters’ and whirs and the spinning wheel keeps appearing. It’s near impossible to edit anything. Is there any way of loading the computer with more memory or RAM(?) to make it quicker for dealing with this sort of thing? Again, if so, how much would this cost and how long would it take to upgrade? Is the computer too old a model to now to upgrade for such a thing? Do you guys do call outs or drive out to pick up computers? Or does the customer have to drop off the computer at your office? Thank you for your time, if I can supply you with any other info, please get in touch.

16. I have spilt coffee on my Macbook. I removed the battery, cleaned it up and dried it out. The computer starts, loads etc but although I can move the cursor I cannot click on the mouse – it won’t ‘click’. I cannot access the serial number, I bought the laptop about 3 years ago. I could drop the Macbook off anytime today. Please could you give me some idea of cost?
